September is Leadership Month

Build your leadership skills during this year’s Leadership Month with events throughout September. WSU faculty, staff and students are invited to to grow their leadership skills by participating in helpful workshops, service projects, trainings, recreational activities, philanthropy opportunities, career fairs and more.

Leadership Month will conclude with the largest leadership conference in the region, the Pacific Northwest Collegiate Leadership Conference on Sept. 30. Network with more than 500 students from around the region. Accomplished spoken word poet and keynote speaker Rudy Francisco will discuss social justice and influence. This all-day event begins 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 30, in Todd Hall. This event is free for WSU Pullman students. Students from other WSU campuses are $15. Admission for non-WSU students is $25. Registration is open through Cougsync until Sept. 22.

Additional events will include a free health screening provided by WSU Health & Wellness Services at 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 20, at the Student Recreation Center. The screening includes testing for cholesterol levels, body mass index, body fat percentage, blood pressure, vision as well as cancer screening skills.

Health & Wellness Services will also host a free suicide prevention training workshop for all faculty, staff and students at 10 a.m.-12 p.m., Monday, Sept. 25, in the Health & Wellness Services building, Room G40. This workshop will cover facts about college student suicide, how to ask if someone is suicidal, and appropriate referrals. Pre-registration is required, and seating is limited. Online registration is available at hws.wsu.edu.
