Registrar 301 Workshop

The Registrar’s Office at WSU Pullman is using the opportunity of no classes on Presidents Day, February 15, to host an all-day workshop. We’re going to talk about the general areas, below, and would welcome your attendance for any or all of the topics. Drop-ins will be welcome.

Both new and seasoned colleagues will have the opportunity to hear about and discuss important topics with the Registrar’s Office staff. Note: There are no prerequisites for this workshop. There are no special course fees. LUNCH is included (at Pullman).

Schedule and Summary of Sessions

8-8:30, Arrival (with Coffee, Water, and Refreshments in Pullman)

8:30-8:45, Welcome (Julia Pomerenk)

8:45-10:15, Curricular Change Process (Suzanne Lambeth)
*Overview of the submission and approval process for: New Degrees, Majors, Minors and Certificates; Requirement revisions for Majors, Minors and Certificates; New courses; and Course revision. Open to all. Recommended for academic coordinators and departmental curriculum support staff.

10:30-11:30, Moving the Returning Student toward Graduation (Suzanne Lambeth)
*Topics to be covered include: Rules 110 and 111; GER/UCORE crosswalk; Accessing older data; Graduation without further enrollment. Recommended for all advisors.

11:30-noon, Residency and Veteran Affairs (Tania Swanger and Blaine Golden)
*Residency: Brief review of the requirements for residency for tuition-paying purposes and the residency website information.
*Veteran Affairs: Brief overview of the various situations through which military-affiliated students are eligible to pay the resident tuition rate. Additionally, brief review of the new process by which VA beneficiaries will request to have their enrollment certified with the VA, each semester.

Noon-12:30, Records and Registration Updates (Matt Zimmerman)
*Review of Change of Major and Enrollment Change forms; enrollment processing points to remember; general question and answer period.

12:30-1:30, Lunch (provided for participants in Pullman)

1:30-2, Petitions for Academic Calendar Deadlines (Julia Pomerenk and Anna Roberts)
*Overview of the process and timeline for petitions, including supporting documentation.

2-2:30, Students Attending WSU through Running Start (Tania Swanger)
*A brief overview, including the requirements of participating in the program and the expectations of participants of the Running Start program at WSU-Pullman.

2:45-3:45, Room Scheduling (Suzanne Lambeth)
*Topics will include: Update/Review of Schedule Builder; Rules 80 and 81; One-time events; Final Exams. This session is recommended for Pullman and Global Campus departmental schedulers.

3:45-4, Wrap-up
