Phone (Voice) System maintenance by Frontier Communications

Information Technology Services is advising of some maintenance by Frontier Communications that will be affecting the Phone (Voice) System services for the WSU Pullman Campus on Thursday morning, August 6.

Frontier Communications will be performing maintenance on the WSU Pullman Campus telephone system service to add additional redundancy and failover capabilities for call routing.  This work is scheduled for early Thursday morning, August 6, between 12:01 a.m. and 3 a.m.  During this time, phone communications to and from outside (local and long distance numbers) will be unavailable, at least for portions of the time window.   Note that due to the nature of the changes, during failover testing some calls in progress may get dropped.

Emergency 911 service from on-campus phones will still be operational during the entire maintenance period.

Calls between campus phones (on-campus calls) are not affected.  But campus phones will not be able to reach or be reached by local or long distance numbers during this time. Those working during these hours who may need phone service are advised to carry a cell phone.  However, remember that cell phones will not be able to call or be called from on-campus phones during the outage.
