PEBB Eligible Employees: Change to Life Insurance – Action Required!

Action required by all benefit-eligible employees!  The PEBB has a new life insurance carrier, MetLife, beginning January 1, 2017. All benefit-eligible employees, even if you are not currently enrolled in any optional life insurance coverage or you were previously denied, have a one-time opportunity to enroll in or increase your life insurance up to the new guaranteed issue amount of $500,000 without approval.  Additional coverage is available up to $1,000,000, as well as coverage on family member.

  • To view your current life insurance coverage, go to your myWSU account, and look under the Employee Benefits screen on the lower left hand column.
  • Your employer-paid basic policy and any optional/supplemental life insurance you carry on yourself or your spouse/partner will automatically convert to the MetLife policies.
  • Basic spouse, basic child(ren), and the accidental death and dismemberment policies will not transfer and would need to be applied for to continue.
  • Current beneficiary information will not transfer to MetLife, and should be entered in your Met Life MyBenefits.
  • To make changes to your life insurance and name your beneficiary(ies), go to MetLife’s MyBenefits portal before November 30, 2016.  Hard copy forms are also available at HRS or on the HRS Life Insurance Open Enrollment website.  Forms may be mailed to the MetLIfe address on the form or submitted to HRS. Forms must be received by MetLIfe no later than November 30, 2016.
  • HRS will also be holding information sessions/presentations at the following times.  These will be video-conferenced and available for all WSU employees to attend.
    • November 9, from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m.
    • November 17, 9 -10 a.m.
    • November 21, 12:30 – 1:30 p.m.
  • Additional information is available in the PEBB Program’s October For Your Benefit newsletter, on the MetLIfe website, and HRS Life Insurance Open Enrollment webpage.  Be sure to revisit the websites for updated information.
