PEBB Eligible Employees: Address the April Surcharges and SmartHealth Wellness Incentive

Beginning in July, 2014, WSU employees who are covered by one of the Public Employee Benefit Board (PEBB) medical plans may be subject to a Tobacco Use Surcharge ($25/mth), or a Spousal/Domestic Partner Surcharge ($50/mth).  Employees may also be eligible for a SmartHealth Wellness Incentive in 2015, which would result in a $125 reduction in their annual deductible, or an additional $125 employer contribution to their Health Savings Accounts for employees enrolled in CDHPs.

During this month, employees must log on to their Health Care Authority’s “My Account” to answer questions that will determine if they are subject to one or both of the surcharges, or eligible for the wellness incentive.

Instructions on how to set up your “My Account”, if you have not already done so, can be found at “How do I register?”

Additional information about the Surcharges and SmartHealth Wellness Incentive is available at www.hrs.wsu.edu/Benefits.   Questions can be directed to Human Resource Services at (509)335-4521 or hrs@wsu.edu.
