The Annual Open Enrollment period for 2017 begins tomorrow and will run from November 1 – 30. In addition to this being the one time a year when you are able to change your medical and/or dental plans, add eligible dependents to your coverage, or waive dependents from your coverage, there is also a special one-time Life Insurance Open Enrollment period.
Employees who have existing life insurance coverage will have some of their policies transfer to our new life insurance carrier, MetLife. However, everyone needs to do something:
- All employees need to designate their beneficiaries;
- Enroll in Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) coverage if desired, since these policies with NOT transfer to MetLife;
- Enroll in Optional Child coverage if desired as this is a new policy and the basic child coverage will NOT transfer to MetLife;
- Review your current coverage;
- Enroll in additional coverage if desired, without having to provide evidence of good health, even if you were previously denied coverage!
This is also the time to enroll/re-enroll in the Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and/or Dependent Care Assistance Program (DCAP) if you wish to have this coverage in 2017. If you are currently enrolled and plan to continue your FSA or DCAP in 2017, you must re-enroll.
If you do not want to make a change in Medical/Dental plans, you do not need to complete any forms and your current plan will continue.
Visit the HRS Open Enrollment website for additional information.
And, by the way, don’t forget to show your Cougar spirit and participate in the Apple Cup Fitness Challenge!
