WSU students, staff and faculty and all area community members are invited to audition for a part in Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead, by Tom Stoppard and directed by Benjamin Gonzales.
This tragicomedy is Stoppard’s fabulously inventive tale of Hamlet told from the worm’s-eye view of the bewildered Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, two minor characters in Shakespeare’s play.
Auditions will be held in Wadleigh Theatre (Room 250) at Daggy Hall, Jan. 27 – 29, with callbacks on Jan. 30.
Monday auditions, for the primary roles of Rosencrantz, Guildenstern and “The Player,” are by appointment beginning at 7 p.m. The director requests two, short prepared monologues, one classical and one contemporary. Email Benjamin Gonzales at bgonzales@wsu.edu, no later than 5 p.m. Jan. 26, to schedule an appointment.
Two-hour open auditions for all other roles, including consideration for primary roles, will be held on Jan. 28 at 7 p.m. and Jan. 29 at 5 p.m. No preparation is required and it is only necessary to attend one of these session. Callback auditions will take place on Jan. 30 at 6 p.m.
Performances are scheduled for April 4, 5, 11 and 12 at WSU’s Jones Theatre. For more information contact Benjamin Gonzales at bgonzales@wsu.edu, 508-335-2990, Daggy Hall Room 212 or visit www.performingarts.wsu.edu.
