Moscow residents can avoid coming WSU parking increases

Changes to WSU parking lot designations will result in significant increases in parking costs for the 2017-2018 school year. You can save hundreds of dollars by opting out of your car and into the Moscow Van Pool as an occasional or full time rider.

When calculating the cost of commuting, use the widely accepted rate of 50 cents per mile (about $10/day for most Moscow residents), then add in your cost of parking (typically $2-$4/day) to get your real commuting cost, which for a Moscow resident is at least $200/month. Then compare that with the cost of riding with the Moscow Van Pool, which for a full time rider is $55-$65 per month.

During the summer, the van leaves Moscow from the Eastside Marketplace at 6:55 a.m. and picks up riders at the Moscow Post Office and the Palouse Empire Mall, arriving on campus by 7:20 a.m. Departure from campus is at 4:10 p.m. While on campus the van is parked in the Fine Arts Building garage. During the academic year the van departs from the Eastside Marketplace at 7:25 a.m. and departs at 5:10 p.m.

There are also openings for day riders, particularly during the summer. Daily rides cost $2.75.

Riders must be WSU students, staff or faculty members. For more details and to schedule a free trial ride email nilsson@wsu.edu.
