Let Student Financial Services be your Resource!

Student Financial Services (SFS) recognizes there are many questions and concerns students and their families have about financial aid and scholarships during this time of the year. We encourage students to wrap their arms around these tips, to make sure their financial aid is ready for them on the first day of classes. To provide students and parents the best possible service, SFS is gearing up for the semester start with the hope of making the financial aid process faster, friendlier and easier.

Aid Delivery-Starts August 19

SFS will start disbursing financial aid and scholarship funds electronically to WSU students’ accounts on Wednesday, Aug. 19, following the posting of university charges on Aug. 9. Aid will continue to flow to students’ accounts the entire semester. Please remind students to check both their myWSU (formerly known as zzusis) account and their WSU email account to be sure they have taken care of business so their aid can deliver when needed. Click here for key information and check our website home page at finaid.wsu.edu for other timely announcements.  As in past semesters, SFS will write emergency short term loans for students when appropriate.

Support and Service

SFS staff looks forward to helping students and parents during this hectic yet exciting time of year. All SFS staff has been working hard during the summer to make sure as many students as possible have financial aid awards. Also, SFS has increased its capacity to handle more students and parent calls and is accepting and reviewing documents electronically at a faster rate.  Our Communications Center is open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. to assist with student and parent financial aid questions. We have been averaging about 400 calls and about 75 emails daily at this time and those numbers will climb higher as we approach the start of the fall term.

At the Pullman Campus specifically, students can make advisor appointments online through the FinAid Scheduler found on finaid.wsu.edu. Starting Aug. 10, SFS will have all advisor windows open from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday to handle increased student traffic. Students will be personally greeted by SFS staff when arriving, and they will have options to scan and electronically submit documents, learn about self-help next steps, and/or schedule a future advisor appointment if needed.

SFS appreciates the Cougar community’s patience as the SFS staff focuses on supporting each WSU student and their financial aid needs efficiently and compassionately. Please direct students to visit their local financial aid office, call, email (finaid@wsu.edu), or check the SFS website at www.finaid.wsu.edu when seeking help.  Thank you!
