Join us on Thursday to celebrate Legacy: Former Fine Arts Faculty Exhibition & Fundraiser!

Celebration: Thursday, July 9, 4 to 6 p.m.

Teachers and practitioners of visual culture, Washington State University’s Fine Arts Department has a rich history of skilled and influential faculty. This summer, Legacy: Former Fine Arts Faculty Exhibition & Fundraiser will offer a unique tribute to many of the department’s former teaching artists who have inspired the WSU community and beyond. As many as 25 artists will be featured, spanning multiple generations of faculty and eras, as the exhibition seeks to demonstrate the lasting and ongoing legacy of WSU’s dedication to the visual arts.

Additionally, the exhibition of diverse and highly-creative work by Emeritus and long-standing former faculty members coincides with the finale of the Campaign for a New Museum of Art. Many of the exhibiting artists have generously provided works for sale in the spirit of this pivotal moment in our museum’s history; with our community’s support we are on the verge of building an extraordinary new museum. All sale proceeds will directly support our goal of building a new Museum of Art at the heart of the WSU campus.

At any point during the duration of the exhibition, patrons may contribute to the Campaign for a New Museum of Art by purchasing works of art through Anna Maria Shannon at annam_shannon@wsu.edu. All works will be available for pickup after closing celebration July 9, 2015.

The Museum of Art is committed to the idea that a museum has a responsibility to recognize the creative talent of its region.  Our over-arching goal is to support creativity and innovation in students who can seek out divergent opinions, examine complex issues from a variety of perspectives and find meaning in the world.

The Museum of Art is located on Wilson Road across from Martin Stadium in the Fine Arts Center on the WSU Pullman campus. Summer gallery hours are Tues – Friday,  noon – 4 p.m., closed Saturday- Monday.  For more information please contact the museum at (509) 335-1910.
