Global Citizenship Program – Sept. 6

Do you want to take your college degree and use it to transform your world? Are you a freshman or sophomore in the College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences (CAHNRS)? Well, the Global Citizenship Program may be right for you.

In the new Global Citizenship Program, accepted students will join a cohort of ten CAHNRS students throughout their remaining years at WSU to become career-ready, prepared graduates that can successfully address the many challenges that face our world in the fields of agricultural, human, and natural resource sciences. This cohort program will complement students’ majors by providing invaluable global and intercultural experiences that you otherwise may not have.

Interested in the Global Citizenship Program? Join us for some pizza and conversation at an informational night on Wednesday, September 6, 5 – 6 p.m. in CUE 218!

In this program, students will:

  • Go beyond their major in a Pullman classroom: You will be paired with a faculty mentor with global research and interest in your field of study;
  • Enhance their professional network:  Meet industry professionals and engage in dialogue with CAHNRS leaders at Global Citizen seminars and local service learning experiences;
  • Explore the world: They will study abroad during their third year of the program (semester- or summer-long program) – we believe in the importance of traveling and experiencing different culture so much that we will invest in your experience by supporting you financially in your international experience.

What can this program do for you post-graduation? This program is an outstanding resume builder, allows for one-on-one networking within your field, and will set you apart from other graduates. The small team-based cohort of 10 students creates a different environment than you may be used to; you’re not just listening to a lecture in a classroom, you’re going out and applying your specialization in real-life intercultural situations within a small team. These applicable experiences are some that you can’t learn in the classroom – and what employers are looking for. In this program, you will be personally engaged in the global and intercultural experience and able to communicate and apply your learning to real-world problems.

Applications for the Global Citizenship Program will be due Friday, September 15. For more questions or further information, please contact Dr. Caitlin Bletscher: caitlin.bletscher@wsu.edu.
