“Find Your Way on Crimson and Gray” makes crossing campus easier

The Transportation Options team at Transportation Services is launching a new educational campaign called “Find Your Way on Crimson and Gray” to promote using transit routes for cross-campus transportation.

The campaign is an effort to bring awareness to existing Crimson and Gray Express routes, and make it easier for people to utilize them for getting from one side of campus to the other.

For example, a faculty or staff member who works in French-Lighty could ride the Gray Express over to a meeting at Sloan Hall. Or a student living at Global Scholars could ride the Crimson Express to a class at the new Spark Building. With buses running every 8-10 minutes, using Express routes can not only reduce travel time but also help people avoid the hills.

Pullman Transit’s new app “PTBusBeacon” will also make riding the bus even easier for users. PTBusBeacon replaces the “Where’s my Bus” module and includes many more features. The app allows users to plan their transit trip, track their bus in real-time, and set route notifications. PTBusBeacon is available for download on Android and Apple, and is also available online in a web-based version.

This campaign will include branding key on-campus bus stops with temporary signage indicating whether a particular stop services a Crimson or Gray express route, along with a detailed route map and additional information. There will also be temporary marketing going up in the Compton Union Building, Lighty Building, Transportation Services office, and all residence halls and WSU apartments. These will run for approximately one month.

WSU faculty, staff, and students only need their Cougar Card to ride any Pullman Transit bus.

Temporary signage on-site at bus stops around campus will remain up until the end of spring semester in May, at which point the campaign’s effectiveness will be evaluated through data collected from Pullman Transit’s new AVL/GPS technology.

The “Find Your Way on Crimson and Gray” map will also be posted on the Transportation Services website under “Campus Parking Maps” as well as available via the Transportation Options > Pullman Transit page.
