Feb. 12 Unified Sports student information session

An information session regarding the development of a Unified Sports group will occur 4-5 p.m. on Tuesday, February 12, at the Student Recreation Center Classroom 144, in Pullman.

Unified Sports is a program developed by Special Olympics, with the aim of promoting social inclusion through sport. Through Unified Sports, athletes with and without intellectual disabilities are provided an inclusive playfield for competition and training. The program is a component of Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools, founded in 2008.

Currently, 73 colleges in the United States conduct ongoing Unified Sports activities on their campuses. The program is also present in more than 4,500 U.S. elementary, middle, and high schools.

Interested students are encouraged to attend the meeting regardless of their academic background or prior experience with Unified Sports. Faculty and staff are encouraged to share the announcement with students.
