Common Reading Event: A Cappella Quartet, Women of the World in Concert March 22

Celebrating world folk music traditions from Bulgaria to Brazil and from Japan to Africa, the award-winning international vocal quartet Women of the World will perform Wednesday, March 22, at 7:30 p.m. in Daggy Hall’s Jones Theatre.

With a repertoire spanning more than 30 languages, Women of the World uses the power of voice to cross musical boundaries and spread a message of peace and unity. The group mixes original compositions and traditional folk songs in a cross-pollination of genres, rhythms and global sounds.

Women of the World was named a cappella national champion at the 2014 Harmony Sweepstakes and comprises four Berklee College of Music alumnae, including founder Ayumi Ueda from Japan, Giorgia Renosto from Italy, Annette Philip from India, and Débòrah Pierre from the US and Haiti.
