Mark your calendar on May 18-21 for this year’s National Academy of Sciences’ Summer Institute. The theme for the Summer Institutes is “Scientific Teaching.” Participants engage in a validated training program that teaches them practical strategies for enhancing student learning. These institutes model the principles of active learning, assessment, and diversity and allow participants to engage in mentored practice.
Activities include:
- Reflective writing
- Researching, discussing, and practicing teaching methods and philosophy
- Interactive presentations
- Working in teams to apply Scientific Teaching Principles to a course module
By the end of an institute, participants will have observed, evaluated, and collected a portfolio of innovative teaching approaches and instructional materials that are ready to be adopted and adapted to their own teaching environments.
For more information about the program and to apply for the 24 available positions (Due April 1st, 2015 at 5pm), please refer to this website.
