4th Annual Calvin & Jean Long Lecture

The Calvin and Jean Long Distinguished Lecture in Mathematics brings internationally renowned mathematics scholars to the WSU Pullman campus each fall. The lecture honors former department chairman and professor emeritus Calvin Long and his wife Jean who arrived at WSU, then WSC, in the fall of 1956. After working in the Mathematics Department at WSU for 36 years he retired in 1992.

This year, the Department of Mathematics & Statistics will be hosting Dr. Lawrence Craig Evans, Professor of Mathematics at University of California, Berkeley.

Dr. Evans will be presenting a lecture titled “Hidden Convexity in Nonlinear Differential Equations” on Wednesday, October 24, at 7 p.m. in Spark G45 on the Pullman campus.

This lecture is free and open to the public, with a reception immediately following in Neill Hall 216.
