2018 Alaska Airlines Travel Award Application

As part of Alaska Airlines’ three-year title sponsorship of the WSU Imagine Tomorrow competition, the company has committed three million airline miles (one million annually) to WSU faculty, Extension employees, graduate and undergraduate students with travel funding needs.

To qualify for the miles, applicants must be traveling to, or bringing someone to campus, for a reason related to the categories highlighted in the Alaska Airlines Imagine Tomorrow Competition.

The competition focus areas are:

  • Challenge 1: The Itron Food, Energy, and Water Challenge
  • Challenge 2: The Boeing Aerospace and Transportation Challenge
  • Challenge 3: The McKinstry Built Environment Challenge

Awarded miles can be used for faculty and students to travel to external conferences, industry events, or presentations. They can also be used to bring experts in related fields to campus for lectures or other events. Travel must occur between February 1 and December 31, 2018 and only one application per individual will be allowed.

Miles will be distributed by a review committee, and applications will be judged on the following criteria:

  • Applicability to at least one of the Imagine Tomorrow categories.
  • Demonstrated financial need.
  • Impact and reach of the event.

The application period has been extended, the deadline to apply will be on November 20 at 5:00 PM. Employees and students are encouraged to share this opportunity with other faculty and students. The committee plans to announce and contact awardees by December 15, 2017. If you have any questions, please contact Development Coordinator, Office of Corporate Relations, Ruby Escamilla
