WSU football fans invited to cheer on Cougs at Virtual Gameday Lounge

All members of the Washington State University community are invited to gather virtually and cheer on the Cougars as they take the field against the University of Oregon Ducks on Saturday as part of an online event organized by WSU Global Connections.

Saturday’s Virtual Gameday Lounge will begin at 4 p.m. and is open to students, faculty, staff, alumni and fans of WSU football via their smartphones, tablets or favorite computer. The event will feature games with prizes as well as special guests and will run throughout the length of Saturday’s game with the Ducks.

Anyone wishing to attend is asked to register online.

The event is one of several being organized during a season where visiting Pullman in-person for football weekends isn’t possible due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In cooperation with the PAC-12, WSU Pullman is closing campus parking lots to tailgaters on football weekends and will not allow fans to enter Martin Stadium or to gather outside of it during games. No camping or portable structures such as canopies will be allowed on campus, including in parking lots. Recreational vehicles will be turned away from campus.

No in-person events are taking place on campus, and the university is urging football fans to root responsibly at home alongside members of their households.

WSU Athletics will be hosting a pregame show on its Facebook page as well as providing regular updates on the WSU Football Facebook page.

Additionally, local WSU alumni chapters across the country have been organizing events for their members. NorCal Cougs are hosting a virtual pregame tailgate from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m., with the Big Apple Cougars kicking off their virtual tailgate party at 6 p.m. More information on both events is available on the WSU Alumni Association website.

All WSU football games will be televised either by the ESPN or FOX broadcast family of networks and can be heard on the Washington State Learfield IMG College Sports Network.
