WSU President Kirk Schulz and Provost and Executive Vice President Elizabeth Chilton sent a letter to the university community today notifying them that Fall 2020 commencement will be taking place virtually.
“In the end, canceling our in‑person celebration in the interest of keeping our graduates and their families safe outweighed our wishes to hold a traditional commencement exercise,” the WSU leaders wrote.
The virtual celebration is taking place on Saturday, Dec. 12 beginning at 10 a.m. Registration is required by Nov. 16. More information can be found on WSU’s commencement website.
Fall 2020 graduates are invited to attend future in‑person commencement events when it is safe to hold these celebrations.
“Meanwhile, we remain steadfast in protecting the health of the entire Cougar community. We look forward to a post‑pandemic future in which we can watch our graduates walk across the stage, shake their hand, and hand them their diploma,” Schulz and Chilton wrote.
