Hotel investment and development executive Jan Hazelton to give Burtenshaw Lecture

Jan Hazelton, Kerzner International’s vice president of development in Europe and the Americas, will present “What a Journey! Did I Choose the Path or Did the Path Choose Me?” during the annual Burtenshaw Lecture, 1:25 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, in the CUB auditorium on the Washington State University Pullman campus. The public is invited. The presentation will also be live streamed.

Hazelton will share her expertise in international hotel investment and real estate development. She began her career at the Westin Century Plaza Hotel in the management training program. Her experience includes banking, asset management, finance, development, feasibility, and investment analysis. Presently, she is responsible for development of the One & Only and Atlantis brands at Kerzner International.

Hazelton also has extensive development experience with other brands including Four Seasons, Hilton and Sheraton hotels. She was the founding principal of two boutique advisory firms, Taylor Global Advisors and Three Points Advisory and was a lender to the hospitality industry in the U.S. and Europe for Calyon/Credit Lyonnais. She also specialized in acquisitions and asset management for private equity fund Olympus Real Estate and was a manager at PKF Consulting.

Hazelton is a frequent speaker at industry conferences, a director of International Hotel Investment Council (IHIC) and served on ULI’s hotel and resort council. Her credentials also include a visiting professorship at Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne as well as a professor for the school’s online MBA program.

The Burtenshaw Distinguished Lecture Series is sponsored by alumnus DeVere Jerry and Angelina Burtenshaw in memory of their son, Calvin Brett. The lecture is presented annually by the WSU School of Hospitality Business Management.
