New systemwide data security tool to launch in spring

WSU Information Technology Services group is preparing to introduce a new security tool to the university community later this spring through a network authentication product from industry leader, Okta.

The Okta system will provide more robust security tools and resources when accessing university data and applications.

Advantages of the upgrade include:

  • A password reset service that features an easy‑to‑use self‑service interface.
  • Multi‑Factor Authentication (MFA), which strengthens protection for WSU network ID’s and websites that access sensitive information by requiring multiple methods of identity verification prior to receiving access. Similar extra log‑in steps are required on many banking and financial sites today.

These important security changes offer strategic information security support for WSU’s ongoing modernization effort.

Project updates and information will be provided by ITS team to ensure WSU students, faculty and staff have the resources necessary for the best transition possible.
