Today: Come celebrate 20 new distinguished scholars at CUB

The 2018 Distinguished Scholars Celebration honoring 20 award winners will be held 3:30‑5 p.m. Fri., Oct. 19, in the CUB ground-level gallery.

The university community and guests are invited to attend. No RSVPs are necessary.

The event will honor students and new alumni who received prestigious, nationally competitive awards in the past year, said April Seehafer, director of the Distinguished Scholarships Program. It also provides a venue to recognize faculty mentors and recommendation writers who helped the award applicants reach their goals.

Featured at the celebration will be the recently renovated Distinguished Scholars Gallery. The gallery features photos of many of the nearly 300 award recipients going back to 1907, and two posters featuring nine awards with the names of recipients listed.

The program will include remarks from Daniel J. Bernardo, WSU provost and executive vice president.
