Comment period open for revised student conduct rules

Members of the WSU community and the general public are invited to review and comment on proposed changes to the Washington Administrative Code governing the Standards of Conduct for Students.

The draft rules, the result of a year-long process to update WSU’s Standards of Conduct, expand student rights and incorporate best conduct practices nationally. They address topics such as the rights of students not to self-incriminate, the training of conduct board members and WSU conduct officers, and the periodic review of community standards of conduct.

Comments may be submitted in writing until 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, to Deborah Bartlett, rules coordinator, prf.forms@wsu.edu. They also may be mailed to P.O. Box 641225, Pullman, WA 99164‑12225, or faxed to 509‑335‑3969.

A public hearing on the WAC rules is scheduled for 4 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 6, in Lighty 405 on the Pullman campus. The hearing will be livestreamed systemwide, to:

  • SAC 503A at WSU Spokane
  • East 212 at WSU Tri‑Cities
  • VECS 122 at WSU Vancouver
  • Seminar Room 461, WSU Everett

The WSU Board of Regents will consider the comments submitted and vote on the rules at the board’s regular meetings in Pullman on Nov. 15 and 16.
