Immigrants and refugees will be the topic of the next Coffee & Politics Series hosted by the The Foley Institute.
The guest speaker will be Miguel De La Torre, a professor of social ethics and Latinx studies at Iliff School of Theology in Denver, Colorado. De La Torre is an author, scholar, activist and an ordained Southern Baptist minister.
His presentation, titled “Why they come: A discussion of why people attempt the dangerous crossing into America as an undocumented immigrant,” will begin noon Monday, Oct. 15, Foley Speaker’s Room, Room 308, in Bryan Hall. He will address questions like: Is there really a crisis on the border? Why do people attempt the dangerous route to entering as an undocumented immigrant, and what are the ‘ethics of place’?
