Most WSU employees have just a couple weeks left to finish qualifying for the 2019 SmartHealth Wellness Incentive. But even if you’re still just getting started, that should be enough time.

Under the program, faculty and staff have the opportunity to receive a $125 wellness incentive each year through the SmartHealth program. If you are enrolled in a WSU medical plan the incentive will be applied toward your deductible or Health Savings Account for 2019.

The deadline to earn enough points to qualify for the incentive is Sept. 30 for most employees. Those hired after July 1, 2018, have different deadlines: either 120 days from benefit eligibility or Dec. 31, 2018, whichever is sooner.

Earning points is simple.

Head to the SmartHealth Wellness Incentive website and create a new account or log in to your existing one, if you’ve participated in the past.

Identify activities you already do to keep yourself well. Once you’ve received points for those, choose a few new activities to accomplish through the end of the month to reach the minimum 2,000 points needed to receive the reward. Wellness is multifaceted, and there are many aspects of your personal wellbeing that can be improved with a little care and planning.

A good place to start is taking your Wellbeing Assessment. This can help you identify areas in your life that you may want to spend more time focusing on. Additionally, by completing this assessment, you automatically receive 800 points and a taxable $25 Amazon Gift Card!

  • Get comfortable and get productive

    Take steps to adjust your workspace to alleviate those little aches, pains, or fatigue you may feel throughout the day.

    To quiet your mind for better sleep, note your concerns in a journal at least once a week.

  • Connect your role with your organization’s value

    Review WSU’s and your department’s or college’s mission statement or strategic plan; what do you connect with most? Write down how your role or job aligns with WSU’s values.
