Representatives from Washington State University’s College of Education will travel to Nishinomiya, Japan, in November for a joint education seminar, and papers and abstracts are being sought for the conference.
A delegation of five individuals, including Dean Mike Trevisan, Associate Dean for Diversity and International Programs Paula Groves Price and Pullman Schools Superintendent Bob Maxwell, will travel to Japan for the conference and to present the topics to a group comprised largely of teachers, administrators and professionals who work in the Nishinomiya School District. Two more faculty members will join them on the trip to present.
Topic areas for 2018 included English education in elementary school and school bullying and peer relationships. Abstracts of proposed papers are due by June 15 for consideration. The COE leadership team, in consultation with the Nishinomiya Board of Education, will determine which papers will be presented. Faculty will be notified by June 22 if they have been selected.
Papers should not exceed eight pages, double spaced, and papers should be written for an educator audience without technical language. Papers will be translated into Japanese and published in a proceedings of the seminar in both English and Japanese.
Final papers will be due by Aug. 15, and Powerpoints will be due by Aug. 31 to allow time for translation. More information about Powerpoints will be available later.
The seminar is scheduled Nov. 12–17, and the delegation will travel Nov. 11–18. The cost of the trip for faculty members will be covered entirely, with WSU paying for airfare and hotel and Nishinomiya paying for all means and ground transportation in Japan.
The daily schedule will include school visits, presentations, visits to political leaders and dignitaries and sight-seeing. Most days will be scheduled from 8 a.m.–9 p.m.
Abstracts should be submitted to Groves Prize at email@example.com. Questions can also be directed to Groves Price.
