The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) now offers WSU employees access to free financial counseling, skill workshops and legal assistance. This is a significant addition to the mental health and emotional support services already offered.

The new services were recently added by the Washington State Department of Enterprise Services, which manages the program, and come at no additional cost to the University.

The program works on a referral basis, putting WSU employees in touch with professionals in their local area who have contracted with the program to provide specific services. Employees can utilize the program for any reason, whether work-related or personal. All services obtained through the EAP are free.

A free orientation and an introduction to EAP benefits are available at eap.wsu.edu. Referrals can be requested by phone or through the website.

“We encourage faculty and staff to take advantage of the online orientation, even if you don’t think you’ll use the EAP,” said chief human resource officer Theresa Elliot-Cheslek. “It’s a great and very useful resource.“

Supervisors and managers are encouraged to have their team members contact the EAP for help with personal and work-related issues that may affect job performance.
