As the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine continues to grow and evolve as an organization, some staff roles and responsibilities are changing in response to those needs, founding Dean John Tomkowiak has announced.

Dr. Steve Grossman has joined the Office of Admission and Recruitment as assistant dean of Outreach and Career Development. Grossman most recently served as assistant dean for Learning Communities and Student Affairs where he was instrumental in charter class recruitment and learning community development. He will now report to Leila Harrison and focus on the career development of the medical students, as well as engage in outreach with future students on medical career exploration.

Leila Harrison has been promoted to the role of Associate Dean for Admissions, Recruitment and Inclusion in which she will continue to oversee all admissions and recruitment responsibilities, as well as new responsibilities in career development, pathways programs and inclusion.

In addition to these changes, the Office of Admissions and Recruitment will begin the search for a new Assistant Dean for Pathway Programs and Inclusion who will report to Leila Harrison. This individual will be responsible for developing, implementing and managing pathway programs, as well as managing our inclusion efforts around equity, policy and best practices for students, faculty and staff.

If you have any questions about these changes, please contact the Office of the Dean via Lisa Tyran at lisa.tyran@wsu.edu or (509) 368-6578.
