WSU Vancouver announces new major

Beginning in fall 2018, WSU Vancouver will offer a Bachelor of Science degree in data analytics. Data analytics applies fundamental scientific principles to the analysis of large, complex data sets. Students may choose from two tracks: actuarial science or business. Data analytics is an interdisciplinary degree that includes classes in mathematics, statistics, computer science and philosophy.

Data science and big data are hot topics these days. Almost every business needs a skilled data scientist who will extract important details from the data, interpret it and help make decisions to better the business. Graduates pursue jobs as a statistician, business intelligence reporting professional, data analyst, data mining or big data engineer among others.
