Keith Jackson, legendary sports broadcaster, WSU alum, dies

Keith Jackson, who was widely regarded as the ‘voice of college football’ by several generations, died Friday, Jan. 13, in Los Angeles.

Jackson, who graduated in journalism from Washington State University in 1954, was an ABC sportscaster not only in college and pro football, but at the Olympics, baseball, and other events like the Rose Parade. He was 89.

Jackson, who retired in 2006, spent some 50 years calling the action in a folksy, down-to-earth manner that made him one of the most popular play-by-play personalities in the business. See video and story at ESPN.
