EVERETT, Wash. – Washington state’s Chief Privacy Officer Alex Alben will discuss how the government is protecting people’s privacy in the data breach age 12 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, at WSU Murrow College’s Everett campus.
With the Equifax data breach still a fresh memory, protecting personal data from hackers and identity thieves has become a nationwide concern.
Alben became the state’s first chief privacy officer when the office was created in March 2015. He coordinates privacy and data policy for the state and consults with the governor and Legislature on technology issues impacting citizen privacy.
He has prior experience as a technology executive helping in the launch of ESPN.com and ABCNews.com and worked as an entertainment lawyer for Orion Pictures and Warner Bros.
The event is scheduled to take place in room 102 at the new WSU Everett building, located at 915 N. Broadway. The event will also be viewable remotely via Facebook Live at facebook.com/murrowcollege.
