Dec. 7: Acclaimed Sonos Handbell Ensemble to ring in holidays with concert

Sonos Handbell wheel PULLMAN, Wash. – Sonos Handbell Ensemble will provide a stunning concert of seasonal music 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, at in Washington State University’s Jones Theatre.

Sonos has amazed audiences around the world with their breathtaking musical performances using 68 chromatically tuned bells. Each bell plays a single note, allowing the ensemble to cover more than five octaves by ringing, slamming, plucking, malleting, shaking, damping and bouncing bells individually.

The ethereal resonance of the handbells combined with the visually compelling nature of the performance make Sonos Handbell Ensemble concerts unforgettable.

Following an appearance on National Public Radio’s “A Prairie Home Companion,” host Garrison Keillor said, “Their music stunned us all. The 4,000 audience members went wild, just as we knew they would.”

In this special holiday show, Sonos will perform beloved favorites like Tchaikovsky’s “Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy” and the classic “Sleigh Ride.”

Reserved seating costs $18 adults, $15 seniors (ages 60 and up) and $9 non-WSU students and youth. WSU student admission is free with valid ID. A discounted rate of $14 per person is available to groups of eight or more.

Tickets are on sale at all TicketsWest outlets, including online at TicketsWest.com, by phone at 800-325-SEAT, and in person at WSU’s Beasley Coliseum, and the Rosauers Supermarket in Lewiston. Advance tickets are subject to convenience charges unless purchased at the Beasley Coliseum ticket office. The Daggy Hall box office will open for ticket sales and will-call beginning two hours before the performance.

Since its founding in 1990, Berkeley’s Sonos Handbell Ensemble has delighted audiences of all ages with national, Asian and European tours and performances at major world events, including the World Ice Skating Championships and the United Nations 50th Anniversary Celebrations.

The ensemble has recorded six CDs, including two Christmas albums, “Christmas with Sonos” and “A Very Classical Christmas.”

Sonos Handbell Ensemble is presented by WSU Performing Arts with generous support from the Residence Inn by Marriott Pullman and the Courtyard by Marriott Pullman.

Parking will be available without permits or fees in the Daggy Hall parking garage and in the Green 3 lot directly across the street from Daggy Hall.
