Free weather spotter training Nov. 15

WSU and Whitman County Emergency Management is hosting a free training opportunity presented by the National Weather Service. The training will be Wednesday, November 15, from 6-8 p.m. at the Public Safety Building classroom on the Pullman campus.

The National Weather Service in Spokane is seeking volunteers who would like to become official weather spotters.  Weather spotters are the “eyes and ears” of the NWS and provide valuable weather reports, which cannot be replaced.  Spotter reports, coupled with radar, satellite, and other data, have enabled the NWS to issue more timely and accurate warning and statements for many types of hazardous weather. The training is free of charge and prior experience is not necessary. A Meteorologist from the Spokane National Weather Service (NWS) will present.

The Public Safety Building on campus is located on 2201 East Grimes Way. Parking next to the building is available for free after 5pm.
