PULLMAN, Wash. – The potential impact of currently proposed federal tax reform bills will be discussed by a founding member of the Tax Sage Network, 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, in Spark G45 at Washington State University. The event will be live streamed at http://streaming.business.wsu.edu/
Thomas Neubig, who led the U.S. Treasury’s Office of Tax Analysis as its director and chief economist for 10 years, will present “Federal Tax Reform: Why is it Needed, Why so Difficult?” As the keynote speaker of the fall 2017 Hoops Tax Institute Forum, Neubig will discuss the economic and political issues and obstacles that affect major tax reform.
For the past 20 years, he has served as the director of quantitative economics and statistics for Ernst & Young. He also served as president of the National Tax Association.
Neubig most recently served in Paris as an official with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). He was responsible for producing the OECD’s report on measuring and monitoring base erosion and profit shifting.
With his doctorate in economics from the University of Michigan, Neubig recently returned as a research affiliate to the University of Michigan’s Office of Tax Policy Research.
His presentation is hosted by the WSU Howard D. and B. Phyllis Hoops Institute of Taxation Research and Policy and the Thomas S. Foley Institute for Public Policy and Public Service.
