Imagine Tomorrow bannerPULLMAN, Wash. – Alaska Airlines has committed three million airline miles to WSU faculty, graduate and undergraduate students as part of the company’s three-year sponsorship of WSU’s Imagine Tomorrow program.

Alaska will contribute one million travel miles annually to the program between 2018 and 2020.

Faculty, graduate and undergraduate students working on research or study topics related to one of the WSU Imagine Tomorrow focus areas are eligible to apply for a portion of those travel miles. Those focus topics include:

  • Food, Energy and Water
  • Aerospace
  • Biofuels
  • Built Environment

For additional information on these topic areas, see the Imagine Tomorrow website at  https://imagine.wsu.edu/how/topic.html

During the first year, travel must occur between Feb. 1 and Dec. 31, 2018, and only one application per individual will be allowed.

Awarded miles can be used to travel to external conferences, industry events or presentations. They also can be used to bring experts in similarly related fields to campus for lectures or other events.

Applications for travel in 2018 are currently open; the deadline for submission is 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20.

Employees and students are encouraged to share this opportunity with other faculty and students.

Miles will be distributed by a review committee, and applications will be judged on the following criteria:

  • Applicability to at least one of the Imagine Tomorrow categories.
  • Demonstrated financial need.
  • Impact and reach of the event.

If you have any questions about the application or process, contact Ruby Escamilla, development coordinator, WSU Office of Corporate Relations at 206-426-3026 or ruby.escamilla@wsu.edu.
