As part of Alaska Airlines’ three-year title sponsorship of the WSU Imagine Tomorrow competition, the company has committed three million airline miles (one million annually) to WSU faculty, Extension employees, graduate and undergraduate students with travel funding needs.
To qualify for the miles, applicants must be traveling to, or bringing someone to campus, for a reason related to the categories highlighted in the Alaska Airlines Imagine Tomorrow Competition.
The competition focus areas are:
- Food, Energy and Water
- Built Environment
For extended explanations of these challenge topics please go to the competition site. Awarded miles can be used for faculty and students to travel to external conferences, industry events, or presentations. They can also be used to bring experts in related fields to campus for lectures or other events. Travel must occur between February 1 and December 31, 2018 for this initial application period.
Miles will be distributed by a review committee and applications will be judged on the following criteria:
- Applicability to at least one of the Imagine Tomorrow categories
- Demonstrated financial need
- Impact and reach of the event
We are excited to announce that the application is now live, and the deadline to apply will be on October 31 at 5 p.m. The committee will announce and contact awardees by December 15, 2017. If you have any questions, please contact Ruby Escamilla.
