WSU community invited to help shape two Student Affairs leadership posts

PULLMAN, Wash. – The Washington State University community is invited to provide input on how to best shape two new leadership positions within the Division of Student Affairs.

The search for the Associate Vice President of Community, Equity and Inclusive Excellence and the Associate Vice President of Student Engagement is underway. Both positions will serve integral roles in shaping the culture of WSU and attending to the needs of the entire Cougar community.

The search firm Isaacson, Miller would like to hear ideas from students, faculty and staff on the qualities ideal candidates should possess as well as answer questions about the search process.

Open Session: 4-5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 25, CUB Auditorium

Student Session: 4:15-5:15 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, Chinook 25

The establishment of the AVP for Community, Equity and Inclusive Excellence is one of several new initiatives created by WSU President Kirk Schulz to improve WSU’s campus culture and climate. This person will coordinate campus culture and climate activities throughout the WSU system.

The AVP for Community, Equity and Inclusive Excellence search committee is chaired by Victor Villanueva, Regents Professor and director of the Writing Program. Committee members include Chijoke Emeka, Black Student Union; Dominique Faga’autau, Multicultural Student Services; Amir Gilmore, Graduate and Professional Student Association; Naomi Grande, ASWSU Vancouver; Matthew Jeffries, Gender Identity/Expression and Sexual Orientation Resource Center; Acacia Kapusta, Residential Education; Carmen Lugo-Lugo, Critical Culture, Gender, & Race Studies; James Mohr, Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at WSU Spokane, Faith Price, Native American Programs, Jenne Schmidt, Diversity Education; Lynne Varner, Marketing Strategy and Community Engagement at WSU North Puget Sound; Olivia Yang, Facilities Services.
