VASHON ISLAND, Wash. – Forest and woodland owners from Vashon will build skills to care for their trees at the Vashon Island Forest Owners Field Day, 10:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, at Agren Memorial Park.
Washington State University Extension, Vashon Parks District, King Conservation District and the Washington Department of Natural Resources will host the all-day outdoor event, which will feature classes, demonstrations, tours and resources on a variety of topics for forest owners of all skill levels, from “newbie” to seasoned veteran. Topics include forest health, wildlife, fire prevention, mushroom cultivation and more. There will also be vendor exhibits and time for participants to network with professionals and fellow landowners.
Cost to attend is $25 per person or $35 per couple before July 27, $35 per person and $45 per couple if registered by Aug. 3, and $45 per person or $55 per couple on the day of the event. Registration includes lunch. Youth under 18 may attend for free. There is a special student and master gardener rate (call for details).

Participants should dress for the weather, wear sturdy footwear and prepare to walk short distances in forested terrain. Parking, restrooms, coffee, refreshments and drinking water are available on site.
