Dutta interim director of mechanical, materials engineering

Dutta IndranathPULLMAN, Wash. – Indranath Dutta, a fellow of the American Society for Metals International, has been named interim director of WSU’s School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering.

“My main goal for the coming year will be to keep moving the school forward, while building esprit de corps among our staff and faculty.” said Dutta. “Engaging in mentorship will help us reach our full potential.”

Professor Dutta joined the School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering in 2008 and has served in various administrative positions during his tenure at WSU, including a term as the associate dean for research.  Prior to joining WSU, he was a professor at the Naval Postgraduate School, and he held visiting positions at the Air Force Research Laboratory, University of Oxford, Motorola, Intel, and Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University.

Dutta assumes his position on July 1.
