SPOKANE, Wash. – A panel discussion about the effects of legalized marijuana in Washington, Oregon and Colorado will be part of the annual Washington State University Spokane Inland Northwest Research Symposium on Friday, April 14.
Three panelist presentations and follow-up question-answer discussions will be 8:45-10:15 a.m., moderated by Nick Lovrich, WSU Regents professor emeritus and chair of WSU’s Committee on Cannabis Research and Outreach.
After a 15-minute break, a two-hour poster session will present work by researchers and graduate students.
The panelists hold lead positions on funded research regarding marijuana legalization and its effects on public health and safety. Panelists are:
• Adam Darnell, Washington State Institute for Public Policy, presenting “An Overview of the Legally Required Benefit-Cost Evaluation of Recreational Marijuana Legalization in Washington.”
• Julia Dilley, Oregon Public Health and Multnomah County Health, presenting “In the Weeds: Community-based Public Health Impact Study of Marijuana Legalization in the Pacific Northwest.”
• Ashley Brooks-Russell, Colorado School of Public Health, presenting “Monitoring the Public Health Effects of Marijuana in Colorado: Findings and Future Research.”
