By Gail Siegel, WSU Performing Arts

PULLMAN, Wash. – Known for adrenalized performances, original compositions and notorious music videos, Greg Anderson and Elizabeth Joy Roe will bring their revolutionary piano duo experience to Washington State University’s Jones Theatre at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11.

The program will feature the duo’s arrangements of Piazzolla tangos including “Primavera Porteña,” “Oblivion” and “Libertango;” The Beatles’ “Let It Be;” music by Rachmaninoff and more.

Anderson & Roe by Lisa Marie Mazzucco.

Described as “the most dynamic duo of this generation” (San Francisco Classical Voice), “rock stars of the classical music world” (Miami Herald) and “the very model of complete 21st-century musicians” (Washington Post), the duo aims to make classical music a relevant and powerful force around the world.

Reserved seating costs $18 adults, $15 seniors (ages 60+) and $9 non-WSU students and youth. WSU student admission is free with valid ID. A discounted rate of $14 per person is available to groups of eight or more.

Tickets are on sale at TicketsWest outlets, including online at http://www.ticketswest.com/events/wsu-performing-arts/10391/, by phone at 800-325-SEAT (7328) and in person at WSU’s Beasley Coliseum ticket office (open 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday-through Friday) and the Rosauers Supermarket in Lewiston, Idaho. Anderson and Roe’s recent albums on the Steinway label, “When Words Fade,” “An Amadeus Affair” and “The Art of Bach,” have spent dozens of weeks at the top of the Billboard Classical Charts, while their Emmy-nominated, self-produced music videos have been viewed by millions on YouTube and at international film festivals.

The duo recently toured throughout North America, Asia and Europe; appeared with the San Francisco Symphony, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, the Chicago Sinfonietta and more; served as webcast hosts for the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition; and released the DVD of their ambitious — and literally explosive — music film, “The Rite of Spring” (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCd2VwYlB7vx2SQOp_DrA-5g).

The Anderson & Roe Piano Duo (http://www.andersonroe.com/) is presented in concert by WSU Performing Arts (http://performingarts.wsu.edu/) and the WSU School of Music (http://music.wsu.edu/) with generous support from the WSU College of Arts and Sciences; Allegro WSU; Residence Inn by Marriott Pullman; Steinway Piano Gallery of Spokane, Wash.; and Washington State Music Teachers Association.
