PULLMAN, Wash. – Undergraduate students at Washington State University have until Feb. 15 to apply for $1,000 awards to support their faculty-mentored research, scholarship and creative activities.

Applicants can use a form on the Office of Undergraduate Research website at https://undergraduateresearch.wsu.edu/funding/undergraduate-research-awards/apply/.

An undergraduate research award helps students devote time and energy to their research rather than working at an off-campus or other job, said Shelley Pressley, director of the Office of Undergraduate Research.

In addition to a mentor’s letter of recommendation, the application must include a personal statement about how pursuing research as a WSU undergraduate aligns with the student’s career goals. Applicants must describe the mentored project and its importance to their field and society, as well as what impact they expect their work to have.
