PULLMAN, Wash. – Donations of sustainable, local, organic food for 13 rural Whitman County food pantries will be accepted 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, by Washington State University students at Dissmore’s IGA as part of the national Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service.
Donors will receive a fair trade tote bag.
WSU students will also participate in seven community service projects: maintenance and cleaning for Family Promise of the Palouse; sorting and archiving civil rights era newspaper articles with White Spring Ranch Museum; assisting seniors with chores with the Pullman Council on Aging; cleaning up Paradise Creek with the Palouse-Clearwater Environmental Institute; helping seniors with computers and other devices at Avalon Care Center; taking down and storing Christmas decorations at the Regional Theatre of the Palouse; and taking inventory and sorting donations at the Hope Center in Moscow, Idaho.
