Dec. 27: Cougar football to face Minnesota in Holiday Bowl

PULLMAN, Wash. – The Washington State University Cougars accepted an invitation to play in the National Funding Holiday Bowl at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, against the Minnesota Golden Gophers from the Big Ten Conference.

The Cougars are 3-2 against Minnesota; their last meeting in 1988 was a 41-9 WSU victory in Minneapolis.

Under fifth-year head coach Mike Leach, the Cougars finished the regular season 8-4 overall and 7-2 in Pac-12 play, the second straight season WSU posted an 8-4 record prior to the bowl game. Minnesota will enter the game with an 8-4 overall record.

The Cougars’ 7-2 conference mark is its best since 2003, when WSU went 10-3 overall and 7-2 in the Pac 10.
