By Beverly Makhani, Undergraduate Education

undergrad-researchPULLMAN, Wash. – Research opportunities for undergraduates will be presented in two open information sessions at 5-6 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 11 and 12, in CUE 405.

“Interest in undergraduate research is increasing among students,” said Shelley Pressley, director of the Office of Undergraduate Research at Washington State University. “Our program gives students information and tools they can use to get started and locate a faculty mentor.”

Types of research and scholarly or creative endeavors will be discussed, along with topics like connecting with a mentor and visiting with students already participating in undergraduate research.

Pressley’s office includes a team of students who are peer mentors. The office sponsors the annual spring Showcase for Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities – SURCA – a poster session featuring the research, scholarship and creative pursuits of hundreds of students who are mentored by faculty at campuses across the state and the Global Campus.
