jim-pivarnikPULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State University students are invited to hear how to improve their quality of life at the university through physical activity and academic productivity during a talk at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, in Physical Education Building 136.

Speaker Jim Pivarnik is a professor of kinesiology and epidemiology at Michigan State University and director of its Center for Physical Activity and Health.

“Staying healthy while living in a college environment is something that many students struggle with,” said Chris Connolly, WSU assistant professor of sport science. “Between assignments, work, social lives and maybe a few too many late night snacks, students’ health can suffer.”

Pivarnik’s research aims to reduce risk factors for chronic disease development. He has been president for both the American College of Sports Medicine and the North American Society for Pediatric Exercise Medicine.
