Sept. 9: Top business execs share information technology

biz-tech-logoPULLMAN, Wash. – Students will learn how technology and big data analytics drive value in successful businesses at the annual Business Technology Symposium 1-3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, in the CUB Auditorium at Washington State University.

The public and students in all majors are invited to hear top executives from leading enterprises discuss issues facing information technology leaders.

Participants who wish to receive event reminders or updates may register for the Business Technology Symposium livestream through WSU Global Campus or watch the livestream online or on YouTube.

Presenters will include:

Steve-TarrAlumnus Steve Tarr (’76, ’84), former vice president of information technology, Verizon Wireless. Tarr has extensive experience in strategic, tactical and operational leadership in a wide range of industries including global telecommunications, health care, senior living and education ranging from large corporations to startups. He is the founder of the Business Technology Symposium at WSU.

Adriana-Gil-MinerAdriana Gil Miner, vice president of corporate communications, Tableau Software. Gil Miner brings together storytelling, technology and marketing to create breakthrough campaigns that help the bottom line and build up brands. She helped launch Samsung 3D TVs, built digital platforms at American Express, managed Recurring Payments and put the product innovation firm Artefact on the map.

Justin-CurtisAlumnus Justin Curtis (’01), director of product information technology for Zumiez. Prior to starting in 2010 with Zumiez – an international specialty retailer with over 650 stores in four countries – he spent nearly a decade providing business intelligence solutions to a variety of aerospace, banking and software development companies in the Seattle area.

Heidi-MelinHeidi Melin, chief marketing officer of Plex Systems, will be master of ceremonies.
