PULLMAN, Wash. – Food sciences junior John Johnson is one of four students nationwide to be awarded the Clark E. DeHaven Scholarship from the National Association of College and University Food Services (NACUFS).
A native of Moses Lake, Wash., and a graduate of Big Bend Community College, Johnson, 33, transferred to Washington State University as a non-traditional student. Prior to coming to Pullman, he worked for 11 years in the dairy food processing industry.
Johnson said the $5,000 award will help him achieve a career in dairy product development or food safety.
“I feel honored to represent the achievements of WSU students and look forward to realizing the potential the NACUFS sees in me,” he said.
