June 23: Gene sequencing tech presented to researchers

PULLMAN, Wash. – A free, one-day workshop about genetic sequencing technology and research will be presented by the Genomics Core at Washington State University Spokane on the Pullman campus and via video statewide.

The event will be 9 a.m.-3:45 p.m. Thursday, June 23, in Bustad Hall 145. Video broadcasts will be available to the Spokane, Tri-Cities and Vancouver campuses and to research and extensions centers statewide. Registration is required at http://eventregistration.illumina.com/WSUJune23. Lunch will be served in Pullman.

Topics will include introduction to next-generation sequencing technology, new product updates, data analysis solutions and technical considerations for RNA sequencing and other applications. Speakers will include: Omar Cornejo, Joanna Kelley and Eric Nilsson, WSU biological sciences; Lucia Peixoto, WSU biomedical sciences; Ben Liu, WSU Genomics Core; and Jason Smith and Kendra Stisser, Illumina Inc.
