May 5: Medication management advocate to speak

Laura-Cranston-webSPOKANE, Wash. – Laura Cranston, executive director of the Pharmacy Quality Alliance (PQA), will be the keynote speaker at the commencement ceremony of the Washington State University College of Pharmacy at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 5, at Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox.

The nonprofit PQA promotes improvement of appropriate medication use and management across health care settings. It develops and implements performance measures used in federal, state and commercial programs to improve patient care and health outcomes.

Cranston is former executive director for the Institute for the Advancement of Community Pharmacy, which promotes innovation and pharmacist-delivered services in ambulatory care and independent and chain community pharmacies.

While vice president of pharmacy affairs for the National Association of Chain Drug Stores, she worked with companies to develop policies concerning state pharmacy regulations, legislation to establish a Medicare prescription drug benefit and more.
